Lord, I can't find you by anxiously seeking
Lord, I can't reach you by effort of mind
But, when I attend to your voice gently speaking
I discover your presence inside.

This song expresses a core truth of "Bethany". It
is sung several times over by the choir following Martha's solo
"Lord I can't pray". But it was written before the "Bethany"
script and the other songs. It came out of a weekend retreat in
Wales as part of the author's self-realisation on the journey
of contemplative prayer.
