TRUTH . . . LIGHTS
UP
(continued)
Mere information does not require 'the penny to drop'. It may be
alight for mathematicians, but is totally inadequate on the pathway
of spiritual endeavour. Little wonder I only take note of the things
that light up to me. I have learned the hard way that 'The letter
kills, but the Spirit gives life'. Naturally I have been accused
of picking and choosing only the portions of inspired writing which
appeal to me. But I can cope with that.
Someone once said that much of what we know needs an eighteen inch
drop from the head to the heart. I would gladly go along with that
for our spiritual eyes are in our hearts. As John Wesley pointed
out, truth must touch us so that we are 'strangely moved'. And that's
the nub of it!
