She was the last patient on the ward...

Long time dying

The Dan Rotherhyde ward was empty and she wondered why they hadn't moved her; maybe they were waiting for the Christmas rush, all those injured drunks and must try harder suicides.

Walter would be here soon, she hoped he wouldn't bring flowers. A large box of chocolates was her craving even if she only managed a couple before that eagle eyed staff nurse swooped.

How long had she been here now, was it three or four weeks and still no nearer to the truth of the matter. If only she hadn't gone to see her Doctor that day. She had only collapsed because of the heat in that waiting room. All this fuss and that prodding her about like a prized turkey, not to mention the indignity of being peered at by medical students and in places even Walter had never seen, well it just wasn't fair.

Someone was shouting 'Ok Staff that's the lot we'll lock up later'

What was going on? She pushed her self up on her elbows but only to see Staff leaving, she called out to her but no answer came. After a few minutes a man appeared and she shouted to him, he glanced quickly around the ward, and then scuttled out like a scared rabbit, switching off the lights as he went and locking the doors behind him….
