| The White House is
a cliché image, but no tourist should visit
Washington without seeing it in all its solid grandeur.
However, it is just one of many white buildings
in the area... |

The
White House
The only President who never lived here was Washington
himself. First occupied by John Adams (2nd president),
this is one of Washington's most visited sites.
If you don't want to wait in line for the full visit
there is an interesting offsite White House museum
across the road on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue. |

The Senate
This imitation Greek temple houses the upper house
of the USA's parliament and is a short walk from
the prominent dome of the Congress building. |
Central
Station
Yes, this temple is just a railway station! In front
of the station is a statue in honour of Christopher
Columbus, who found America by accident. When you
find the station you may like to visit its underground
food hall to put back the calories you lost with
all that walking. |
