It had been a very, very long
journey...
Stars in their eyes
They awoke at different times, beginning with the Commander.
The mess room was sombre.
After several trillion light years of hibernation they all felt
a little jaded.
The Commander asked if there were any complaints.
The Navigator said she had a slight headache.
The Chief engineer reported that all systems were running well.
The Communications officer said that the earth reports had ceased
two hundred years after leaving and the last message included a
merry Xmas.
The Scientific officer explained that the present half darkness
outside was the effect of the ship starting to leave their own time-space
continuum for the next time-space continuum.
The cook rolled a cigarette.
The Commander yawned said he felt tired and turned in.
Twenty five light years later they woke him up with a cup of tea.
He went to the bridge and looked at the view through the space ships
rear scanners.
It was the Navigator who confirmed his worst thoughts, he was looking
back in time at a gigantic kitchen chair from which they had exited
leaving behind their planet, their milky way, their galaxy, their
Universe, the big bang, everything!
The cook asked him if he had a particular dish in mind for supper
.
